The winner of Group A and B would qualify for the second round where they will play against established teams. For the second round, the countries have been divided further into groups A and B comprising of 5 teams each.
Group A: Sri Lanka, South Africa, West indies, England and the Top team of Group B from the first round
Group B: India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Winner of the group A from the first round
BCCI has made an announcement that if Pakistan occupies the second slot in Group B, it will be playing the semi final match in Delhi instead of Mumbai on 30th march. The second semi final would be shifted to Mumbai.
The Group B in the second round is being referred to as the group of death due to the presence of title contenders namely India, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand.
