The stadium was established in the year 1993 and rupees 25 crores were invested in its construction. The stadium took over three years for its construction and possesses a maximum capacity of 28,000 audience at a time. The stadium is owned by Punjab Cricket Association. The stadium has its tenants as Indian Cricket team, Punjab Cricket team and kings XI Punjab in Indian Premier League. The team consists of two ends and they are Pavilion End and The City End.
