Australia South Africa Zimbabwe Triangular ODI Series 2014 Schedule


The Zimbabwe cricket hosted a tri-series which involved Australia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. This was one of the best series for Zimbabwe as they had nothing to lose and had the opportunity to stun the visitors. On the other hand it was an opportunity for the other two teams for allowing their team to test their teams before the upcoming world cup of 2015. The series was sponsored by ZimGold and Blue Line. The matches were telecasted live on ten network in the sub-continent, Super Sport channel in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The first match of the series was played between Zimbabwe and Australia. In this match the Australians came up with a terrific batting as they scored 350 runs. Glen Maxwell scored 93 runs in the innings. The home team lost the game as they managed to score only 152 runs before running out of the wicket. Australia earned 5 points from this match.

The second match of the series was played between Australia and South Africa. It was yet another high scoring encounter between these two teams. Australia scored 327 runs riding on a century from Aaron Finch. South Africans chased this score pretty easily as Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers both scored more than 100 runs in the match. The South Africans earned 4 points from this match.

The 3rd match
saw Zimbabwe and South Africa met against each other. The Zimbabwe came back strongly in the match as they restricted the Africans to just 231 runs. Zimbabwe had a better chance of winning this but South Africans bowled well as they restricted the home side at 170 runs. Thus with this win the visitors earned 5 points from the match.

The 4th ma
tch of the series saw Australia meet Zimbabwe once again. In this match Australia was restricted to 209 runs. This was one of the matches when Zimbabwe made a great comeback in the series beating Australia in the ODI match. The 5th match of the series saw Australia and South Africa come face to face once again. Australia in this match scored 282 runs. South Africans batting let them down this time around. Faf du Plessis scored 126 runs in the match but the rest of the team was unable to score some runs and the team was bowled out at 220 runs. Thus Australia made it to the finals of the series.

Faf du Plessis golden run continued as he scored 121 runs in the 6th match against Zimbabwe. He helped his team reach a score of 271. It was a tough task for Zimbabwe for making it to the finals. The Zimbabwe side lost the match as they were able to score 208 runs only. With this win South Africa made it to the finals of the series.

Australia and South Africa came face to face in the final with Australia making only 217 runs in 50 overs. The Africans bowled pretty well and restricted them at a low score. The South Africans chased down the score pretty easily. Faf du Plessis was the man who scored 96 runs and made the team win the series pretty easily. Faf du Plessis was named as the man of the series for his batting performance. He was the top scorer in this series.
