Solid Top Order batsmen give Zimbabwe their 1st win of the series - Today the Zimbabwe hosted their first One Day International match against Afghanistan cricket team. This was the first match of the four ODI matches that these two teams are scheduled to play against each other. Zimbabwe after winning the toss decided to put Afghanistan to bat. Soon the decision was proved correct for the home team as the visitors lost their 1st wicket in the 2nd over of the match. The visitors found it difficult to score runs easily, at the end of 13th over the team managed to score only 29 runs losing 2 wickets. Noor Ali Zadran was the only batsman in the top order that scored some good runs. He played an innings of 43 runs playing 107 balls. The middle order performed really well as they scored some important runs. Samiullah Shenwari and Mohammad Nabi were the two batsmen for the team who managed to score some important runs for the team. Shenwari scored 65 while Nabi scored 54 runs taking their team to a score of 223 in 50 overs. Prosper Utseya was the top bowler for the home team as he took 1 wicket giving away only 33 runs.

The home team lost their first wicket in the 3rd over of the innings. The team soon lost the second wicket in the 10th over of the game. The team managed to score only 27 runs. Later Sikandar Raza and Brendan Taylor together took the team to a great position. Raza at the score of 89 was retired out bringing in Sean Williams. Later Sean became the top scorer in the innings scoring 70 runs. Taylor played an innings of 43 runs and Raza who came back to bat scored 42 runs. With the help of the top order batsmen the home side easily achieved the target in just 45.2 overs. Shapoor Zardan was the best bowler for the visitors. Sean Williams was named the man of the match for his innings of 70 runs. With this win the Zimbabwe cricket team lead the 4 match series by 1-0.
