Hashmatullah Shaidi is an Afghanistan citizen who represents his country at the International level cricket. Shaidi was born on November 4th 1994 in Logar, Afghanistan. He is a left hand batsman. Shaidi also indulges in bowling. He is essentially a right arm off break bowler. Shaidi considers Kumar Sangakkara as his cricket idol.

Shaidi was in the Afghanistan national team during the Under-19 World Cup of 2010 held in New Zealand. He also played for the side in the Asia Cricket Council Challenge Cup for Under-17 in the year 2008 to 2009. In the U-17 ACC Challenge Cup final, Afghanistan was up against Oman. Shaidi scored a whopping 89 runs that brought home the title of champions.

Shaidi debuted in international cricket through List A. in his first List A match Shaidi played against Pakistan in Under 23. The match was played in Singapore on August 19th 2013. Shaidi scored 52 runs off 174 balls though Pakistan U 23 won the match. His First Class cricket debut was at Dubai against Kenya on 6th to 8th October 2013. Afghanistan won the match by a towering 8 wickets.

Shaidi stepped into One Day International cricket on 2nd October 2013 at Sharjah. The match was against Kenya and Afghanistan won by 8 wickets. Shaidi has also played T20 International matches. His first T20I was on 30th September 2013 at Sharjah versus Kenya. Afghanistan won the match by 106 runs.

Shaidi is an upcoming player of the Afghanistan squad. He loves to play the cover drive.
