Queens Sports Club

Queens Sports Club is a stadium located in Bulawayo, which is situated in Zimbabwe. The club is a multi- purpose stadium, but is mostly used as a ground for cricket matches. Queens Sports Stadium is one such stadium that can hold up to 13,000 cheering spectators. The club holds pride within itself as it is one of the main home grounds for the Matabeleland cricket team.

Queens Sports Club is the second most important sports ground in Zimbabwe. However, most teams take into consideration the Harare Sports Club to be the ground for their matches, as it is the first sports ground of Zimbabwe.

Nevertheless, even though the Queens Sports Ground is the second ground of Zimbabwe, its field dimension measures 300m x 250m. The main and the most important tenants of the ground are the Zimbabwe Cricket and the Matabeleland Tuskers.

The magnificent field broke grounds in 1890. It was inaugurated in 1893. Further it was renovated in 1965 for the first time in its history, and was expanded in 1986. The legal owner of the Queens Sports ground is the City if Bulawayo. The club is operated by Bulawayo City Council. No works is allowed to commence without the permission of the city council members. However, most teams enjoy playing their matches in this ground because of its smooth grassy surface.
