Mohammad Asghar Stanikzai was born on the 22nd of December 1987 in Kabul , Afghanistan. Also called as Asghar Salamkhali, Asghar is a right hand batsman and bowls right arm medium fast. Asghar is a member of the Afghanistan national cricket team. One of Asghar’s memorable innings was that with Samiullah Shenwari on 1st March 2014. In the match against Bangladesh, Samiullah and Asghar together pulled up a 164 runs partnership at the 6th wicket. Afghanistan won the match and this Partnership of 164 runs is the fifth largest combined score for the sixth wicket as well as the third highest partnership for Afghanistan in One Day Internationals.

- Nabi’s first T20 International match was versus Ireland. The match was played in Colombo on 1st February 2010.
Asghar played for Afghanistan U 17s. His debut match was against the United Arab Emirates U-17s. As a part of the senior squad, he played the 2004 ACC Trophy, 2006 ACC Trophy as well as 2007 ACC Trophy. He was in the squad that defeated Nepal to win the 2010 ACC Trophy Elite. In that series, Asghar scored a total of 253 runs where alone in one match against Bhutan he scored 151 runs off 83 balls. As the Afghanistan side moved from World Cricket League Division 5 to Division four and then three and then two, and at last a status of ODIs, Asghar remained a member of the squad all through.
