Highest 2nd Wicket Partnership in T20 World Cup For Pakistan

In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, there are many occasions where we have witnessed some nice innings and partnerships for the 2nd wicket for Pakistan. Let's have a look at some of the good partnerships for second wickets in the T20 World Cup for Pakistan.

1. Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez (95 Runs in 2016)

Pakistan’ Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez are at the top position for making the highest 2nd wicket partnership for Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Both of them added 95 runs for the 2nd wicket in a pair against Bangladesh at Kolkata on 16 March 2016. It was the 14th match of the Super 10 Group 2 where Ahmed Shehzad struck 52 runs and Mohammad Hafeez contributed 64 runs that helped Pakistan to cross the 200 runs landmark and Pakistan won the match by 55 runs.

2. Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed (76 Runs in 2012)

The pair of Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed is at the number 2 position for striking the highest 2nd wicket partnership for Pakistan in T20 World Cup. They achieved this feat in the T20 match against New Zealand at Pallekele on 23rd September 2012. Pakistan scored 177 runs in that match and successfully won the match by 13 runs. Nasir Jamshed was also chosen Man of the Match for his tremendous 56 runs.

3. Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan (72 runs in 2021)

The pair of Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan is at the 3rd position for making the highest run in pair for the 2nd wicket in T20 World Cup for Pakistan. It was the 2nd semi-final match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 where both the batsmen added 72 runs for the second wicket. Fakhar struck 55 and Rizwan added 67 runs that helped Pakistan to put a total of 176 runs on the scoreboard. But the total was not enough for Pakistan and Australia achieved the target very comfortably. Pakistan lost the second semi-final match by 5 wickets with 6 balls remaining in Dubai. 

4. Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman (63 Runs in 2021) 

The Pakistan skipper Babar Azam along with Fakhar Zaman has added the 4th highest 2nd wicket partnership in T20 World Cup for Pakistan. Both of the batters built 63 runs in pairs for 2nd wicket against Afghanistan at Dubai (DSC) on Oct 29, 2021. It was the 24th Match of Group 2 (N) where Azam’s 51 runs and Zaman’s 30 runs helped Pakistan to achieve the target of 148 runs very easily and thus they won the match by 5 wickets. 

5. Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik (43 Runs in 2009)

The pair of Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik is at the number 5th position for hitting the highest 2nd wicket partnership for Pakistan in T20 World Cup. They achieved this feat against the Netherlands in the 9th match of the T20 World Cup 2009 at Lord’s. Kamran Akmal played a match-winning inning of 41 runs that helped them to set a target of 176 runs for the Netherlands. But Netherlands batters could not achieve the target and lost the match by a big margin of 82 runs, Kamran Akmal was named Man of the Match.
