Highest 2nd Wicket Partnership in T20

Partnership plays a very important role in every format of the game. Whether it is chasing a big target or setting up a big target, a good partnership is required. Sanju Samson and Deepak Hooda together made the highest second wicket partnership in T20 International, 176 runs playing against Ireland.

Earlier best was by Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan for 2nd wicket against South Africa in a big run chase. The match was played on December 1, 2020, at Cape Town. It was a big target of 192 runs for the England team to win the match. Jason Roy got had out early but Dawid Malan and Jos Buttler made an unbeaten partnership of 167 runs and finished the game for England. Dawid Malan had made not out 99 runs in just 47 balls and Jos Buttler scored not out 67 runs.

Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara had also made a record partnership of 166 runs against West Indies at Bridgetown Stadium on May 7, 2010. Mahela Jayawardene had made not out 98 runs in just 56 balls in that match. Kumar Sangakkara had played his role brilliantly and contributed 68 runs on that record partnership.

Alex Hales and Ravi Bopara of England hold third place in this list. They had made a record partnership of 159 runs for the 2nd wicket against West Indies in Nottingham on June 24, 2012. Alex Hales had played the anchor role and made 99 runs in just 68 balls. Ravi Bopara had contributed 59 runs and played brilliantly from the other end.

R Sandaruwan and Adnan Idrees had made 156 runs for Kuwait against Qatar back in 2019 at Doha ground. R Sandaruwan made 88 runs in 55 balls and Adnan Idrees made 80 runs in just 43 balls and made a record 2nd wicket partnership for Kuwait.

Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels from West Indies had made a record partnership of 152 runs against South Africa in Johannesburg on January 11, 2015. On chasing a big target of 232 runs, Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels partnership had helped the West Indies team to chase the big target. Chris Gayle had made 90 runs in just 41 balls. Marlon Samuels also scored 60 runs in just 39 balls but it was the Chris Gayle show. Gayle had smashed 7 sixes in his inning.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had made the second highest 2nd wicket partnership for the Indian team. They had made 138 runs partnership against South Africa back in October 2015 at Dharamsala. Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson had made the highest T20I 2nd wicket partnership for the New Zealand team. They had made a partnership of 131 runs against Australia on 25 Feb 2021.
