An all-round Indian Performance leads to a series win against Sri Lanka - India has been on top of Sri Lanka in the first 2 matches of the ODI series. The third match of the series was played Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. It was a must win match for the visitors as this match could have kept them alive in the series.

After winning the toss the Sri Lankans decided to bat first and they lost the wickets pretty early. The first 2 wickets of the match fell in the 3rd over of the match which included the prize wicket of Kumar Sangakkara. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Mahela Jayawardene managed to stitch together a partnership that brought the team back on track. Dilshan after scoring 53 runs lost his wicket leaving the team at a score of 112/3 in 25 overs. Soon the Indians came back as they took quick wickets which put the visitors in trouble once again. They were restricted to 158/7. Jayawardene then took over and scored most of the runs and took his team to a score of 225. Before losing his wicket Jayawardene manage to score 118 runs. With this effort the team managed to score 242 runs. Umesh Yadav was the best bowler for the men in blue as he took 4 wickets.

The Indian openers gave their team once again a good solid start. In this match the openers scored 62 runs for the 1st wicket. Ajinkya Rahane after scoring 31 runs lost his wicket in the 12th over. Shikhar Dhawan continued his run with the bat as he scored 91 runs in the match and lost his wicket in the 34th over of the match leaving his team at a score of 201. Virat Kohli the captain of the Indian team today broke the 6000 runs mark in the match and scores 53 runs. The team with such a strong batting was able to reach the target easily in just 45 overs. The team hence won the 3rd match and sealed the 5 match Micromax cup. The team now leads the series 3-0. Mahela Jayawardene was named as the man of the match for his century.
