Afghanistan wins the fourth match to level the series in style - Afghanistan required winning this last ODI played on 24th of July against Zimbabwe to level the four match series which they were trailing by 1-2. In this match the home side won the toss and put in Afghanistan to bat first. It has been seen in the series that the team batting first has ended up as the losing side. Batting first the visitors didn’t get a good start. Both the openers left early in just 8 overs leaving their side to a score of 31/2. Gulbadin Naib and Nasir Jamal tried to have a good partnership between them but in the 15th over Naib after scoring 31 runs lost his wicket too. After a dismal start from the visitors the middle order came in strong and batted responsibly. Samiullah Shenwari scored 40 runs; Nasir Jamal played an innings of 39 runs. It was the partnership between Mohammad Nabi and Sahfiqullah played a great role in taking their team towards a good score. The players scored 37 and 56 runs respectively. The whole team was bowled out with 5 balls remaining in the innings and they scored 259 runs. Donald Tiripano was the star bowler for the home side taking 5 wickets in the match.

The home side needed to score 260 runs in order to win this ODI series. The whole match was decided in the first 15 overs of the second innings as the home team lost the first 6 wickets in just 15 overs. Later Timycen Maruma and Richmond Mutumbami played sensibly and showed that there is still some hope for the home side. Visitors broke this partnership of 97 runs in the 32nd over of the innings when Maruma got out scoring 29 runs. Mutumbami too lost his wicket soon after scoring 64 runs. The home side was bowled out at a score of 159. Afghanistan not only won the match by 100 runs but also leveled the series in style. Sharafuddin Ashraf took 3 wickets for his team. Donald Tiripano won the man of the match award for his 5 wicket haul.
