Sangakkara and Dilshan lead their team to a huge win against Scotland - The 35th match of the World Cup 2015 was played between Sri Lanka and Scotland. It was a match for Sri Lanka to cement their position in the quarter finals. This match was looked as a chance to complete their league matches with a 2nd or 3rd position in the Pool A. Scotland on the other hand were looking for their first win in the tournament. In this match after winning the toss Sri Lanka decided to bat first.

Lahiru Thirimanne once again failed to start once again as he failed to score more than 4 runs in his innings against Scotland. He lost his wicket in the 6th over leaving his team at a score of 21/1. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara once came into carrying the team when it comes to batting. They together took the team to a score of 216 runs in 35 overs. Dilshan after scoring 104 runs in 99 balls lost his wicket. Sangakkara too lost his wicket in the 37th over of the innings after scoring 124 runs. Later Angelo Mathews later scored 51 runs in 21 balls as Sri Lanka posted a total of 363 runs in 50 overs. Josh Davey took 3 wickets in his 8 overs and was the most successful bowler for Scotland.

The Scottish batsmen had a huge task in hand and it grew even more as the openers failed to give a good start to the team. Kyle Coetzer and Calum MacLeod lost their wicket in the 8th over. Matt Machan too after scoring 19 runs lost his wicket. Scotland was 44 at 3 in the 12th over when Preston Mommsen and Freddie Coleman took guard for the team. They scored 60 and 70 runs respectively and were the only batsmen who were successful in scoring some runs. Once these two batsmen got out in the 376th over the team started lose their wickets. The whole Scottish side was bowled out for 215 runs in 44 overs of their innings. With this Sri Lanka won the match by 148 runs. Kumar Sangakkara was named as the man of the match.
