It was the 14th match of the IPL 2020 edition when CSK and SRH had clashed on 2nd October. The match was played at Dubai International Stadium. CSK was a favorite team for all as it has experienced players like Dhoni, du Plessis, and Jadeja compared to the SRH where most of the young players to counter them. SRH Captain David Warner had won the toss and choose to bat first.

From Sunrisers Hyderabad, David Warner and Jonny Bairstow opened the inning and it was much needed for them to offer a good start, but the opening pair was broken immediately when Bairstow lost his wicket without opening account also. Manish Pandey joined Warner and tried to have some good score, but SRH had to face another blow when Manish Pandey got out. After some time, Warner also got out and hence match was almost one sided as SRH had lost 3 wickets at a score of 69 runs in 10.5 overs. However, the young players Abhishek Sharma and Priyam Garg managed to play well and hit the bowlers of CSK across the ground. Abhishek Sharma made 31 runs in 24 balls before losing his wicket while Priyam Garg made his maiden 50 in this match. At the end of 20 overs, SRH had scored 164 for the loss of 5 wickets, and looking at the team strength of CSK; this score was not much defendable. From CSK, Deepak Chahar got two wickets.

From Chennai Super Kings, the opening pair Shane Watson and FAF du Plessis tried to have a better start, but Watson could do nothing different and lost his wicket at 1 run only. After Watson, Ambati Rayudu joined du Plessis to drive team towards victory, but at a score of 8 runs, Rayudu also lost his wicket. After scoring a few runs with Kedar Jadhav, du Plessis also lost his wicket, and MS Dhoni came on the crease. Dhoni tried well, but Jadhav lost his wicket at a score of 3 runs, and hence the score of the team was 42/4. It was looking like CSK will lose the match by a huge margin, but Ravindra Jadeja played well and made a half-century in 35 balls. After the loss of Jadeja’s wicket, Sam Curran joined Dhoni, but there were not many balls left. Finally CSK lost the match to SRH by 7 runs. From SRH, Thangarasu Natarajan was the most successful bowler who got 2 wickets. Priyam Garg was the player of the match for his excellent 50.
