New Zealand vs Pakistan Test Series 2020-2021


The 2 matches Test series was played between New Zealand and Pakistan on December-January of 2020-21 in New Zealand. New Zealand team showed quality performance at home and dominated the series by 2-0. New Zealand team was captained by Kane Williamson, and M Rizwan was the captain of Pakistan team.

The 1st match of the series was played on December 26-30, Saturday at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. Pakistan won the toss and decided to field first in 1st match of the series. Tom Latham and Tom Blundell opened the inning for New Zealand. Both openers failed to give a good start to the team, and New Zealand lost both their openers on just 13 runs. Shaheen Afridi bowled brilliantly for Pakistan with the new ball. Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor made a brilliant partnership of 120 runs for 3rd wicket. Both the batsman showed quality shots and changed the momentum of the game. Ross Taylor got out on 70 runs. Wicket-keeper batsman BJ Watling finished the Kiwi inning and made 73 runs. New Zealand made 431 runs in the 1st inning. Shaheen Afridi took most 4 wickets for Pakistan.

S Masood and Abid Ali opened the inning for Pakistan. Masood got out early on 10 runs to Jamieson. Pakistan's top-order batsmen failed to contribute in the match, and Pakistan lost their 6 wickets on just 80 runs. Pakistan's captain M Rizwan scored 71 runs, and Faheem Ashraf scored most 91 runs for Pakistan. Pakistan team got all out on 239 runs in their 1st inning.

New Zealand team took the lead in the match, and in 2nd inning, their openers gave the brilliant start to the team, and New Zealand declared their inning on 180 runs. It was a big target of 373 runs for Pakistan to win the match. Fawad Alam scored most 102 runs for Pakistan in 2nd inning, and Captain Rizwan made 60 runs. New Zealand won the match by 101 runs and took 1-0 lead in the series. Kane Williamson was selected as player of the match.

The 2nd or last Test match of the series was held on January 3-7 of 2021 at Hagley Oval. New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first. Azhar Ali scored most 93 runs for Pakistan in 1st inning. M Rizwan also played good inning of 61 runs and Pakistan made 297 runs in 1st inning. Kyle Jamieson took 5 wickets in 1st inning for New Zealand.

New Zealand came to bat and made a huge total of 659 runs in 1st inning. Captain Kane Williamson made a double century. He scored 238 runs, and Henry Nicholls also made a century and made 157 runs. Pakistan batting failed to handle the big runs pressure and team got all out on just 186 runs. Kyle Jamieson took most 6 wickets in 2nd inning. Kyle Jamieson was outstanding with the ball. He took 11 wickets in the match and won player of the match award. New Zealand won the match by an inning and 176 runs. New Zealand team won the series by 2-0. Kane Williamson was selected as player of the series for his brilliant batting performance.
