England ends up with a consolation win in the last ODI - England and India met in the 5th match of the Royal London Cup at Leeds. Before this match India had already won the series by 3-0. It was a match to be won for the home side just for respect while India was looking to nail it with a clean sweep. After winning the toss India decided to field first. England at the start of the innings lost 2 quick wickets as they stood at 39/2 at the end of 7 overs. Alastair Cook after scoring46 runs lost his wicket leaving his team at 91/3. Eoin Morgan too failed to make the difference but it was Joe Root and Jos Buttler who helped their team to revive the lost glory. Root played an outstanding innings scoring 113 runs while Buttler helped Root to score 49 runs. Together these batsmen took the team to a score of 294. Mohammed Shami was the top wicket taker as he took 2 wickets for the Indian team.

Indians started off poorly as they kept on losing wickets pretty early. The Indians were left at 91/4 in 14 overs when Mahendra Singh Dhoni an Ambati Raydu came together in building up the innings. They together helped the team in reaching a good position and revived some hopes. Raydu after scoring 53 runs lost his wicket bringing in Ravindra Jadeja to the crease. Dhoni and Jadeja had it in them to win the match for the team but Dhoni lost his wicket and India found them in trouble. Jadeja was the only batsman who fought bravely till the end to help the team get closer to the target. He scored 87 runs and lost his wicket at the end. India managed to score only 253 runs thus losing the match. Ben Stokes took 3 wickets in the match. Joe Root was named as the man of the match as England complete the series 1-3.
