The English side win the 4th Test match with an innings - The Investec series of 2014 has so far been one of the best series ever played. Both the team have come out as a tough opponent every time they have come against each other in the series. The 1st match ended up as a draw but he second one was won by the visitors. It was a massive victory and the third one saw the home side come back in the series to make it even just before the last 2 matches of the series. The fourth match of the series was to be played in the city of Manchester. After winning the toss the Indian Skipper decided to Bat first.

The Day 1 was rather the most eventful day for the test match. It saw a poor start from team India. On this day the team equalled the world record of most number of ducks in a test innings. The team came in the match with some changes but they all failed in the 1st innings. Gautam Gambhir was the 1st to go leaving his team at 8/1. What followed was a disaster as 3 more batsmen fell on the same score leaving their team at 8/4. Virat Kohli the star batsman failed yet again. Anjinkya Rahane and Mahendra Singh Dhoni had a 54 run partnership taking their team to a total of 62. At this point the team lost the important wicket of Rahane at his score of 24. Ravindra Jadeja too failed to do much for the cause. Ravichandra Ashwin gave the much needed support to his captain. Together they took their team to a score of 129. Ashwin after scoring 40 runs lost his wicket. On the other hand Dhoni scored 71 runs in his innings to take his team to a score of 152 in the 1st innings. Stuart Broad took 6 wickets in the innings. By the end of the day England team managed to score 113 runs by the end of the day losing 3 wickets. At the end of the day Ian Bell was at crease with a score of 45 runs.

Day 2 was rather a day full of rain stoppages. In the 1st session the home side lost 3 more wickets and were at 201/6. As the team managed to score 237 runs the rain came down poring and the game ended there and never resumed for the day.

Day 3 though was again a day full of events. At lunch on day 3 the home team scored 325 runs but they also lost 2 wickets in this process. Just after the resume of play Stuart Broad got injured with a blow on his nose and later the team got out at a score of 367. The lead taken by the home side was a good one looking at the condition of the pitch. Varun Aaron and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 3 wickets each. The Indians had a miserable start of the 2nd innings as yet again the team was standing at 66/6. Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ravichandran Ashwin were the one who once again came and tried to save some time before the loss. This time they didn’t last long as the partnership ended at 105 runs. The team was all out at a score of 161 and thus lost this match with an innings. Moeen Ali took 4 wickets in the match. The series now lies at 2-1 in favour of England with 1 more match to go.
