He gave a cameo performance in Indian team which gave rest to the entire top order batsman during the tour of England and Bangladesh. Vijay made his T20I debut against Afghanistan where he played a significant role as a top order batsmen, showed his fielding against the giants South Africa which lead to victory of India. He is also part of IPL team Chennai super kings. In which he is the prominent top order batsmen proved his outstanding performance 4th season of IPL.ODI debut was not so good for Vijay made his debut against England which performance was not so good 25 of 16 balls.
