The 17th match of the CPL 2020 was played between Barbados Tridents and Trinbago Knight Riders on August 29, Saturday at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. Trinbago Knight Riders captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and chose to bowl first. Trinbago team was playing this match in absence of DJ Bravo.

Barbados opener Johnson Charles played good inning of 47 runs and made a very important partnership of 51 runs for the 2nd wicket with K Mayers. K Mayers also scored 42 runs in 37 balls. Captain Holder got out early in the inning on just 3 runs. Ashley Nurse and Rashid Khan gave finishing touch to team. A Nurse scored 19 runs in just 9 balls and Rashid Khan scored 12 in 6 balls. Barbados Tridents made a total of 148 runs in their 20 over. A Hosein, J Seales and S Raza took 2 wickets each for Trinbago Knight Riders.

It was a target of 149 runs for Trinbago Riders to find their 6th victory of CPL 2020. Lendl Simmons and T Webster opened for Trinbago but Webster got out on 5 to Jason Holder. Lendl Simmons scored 32 runs. Colin Munro also got out on duck to Jason Holder. Barbados bowlers bowled brilliantly and it was looking difficult for Trinbago batsmen to bat. Trinbago lost their 5 wickets on just 62 runs. Captain Pollard was looking good and he took Trinbago close to the target. He played captain inning and scored 72 runs in just 28 balls. He hit 9 sixes in his inning. He could not finish the game and got run out. K Pierre finished the innings and scored not out 10 runs in 5 balls.

Trinbago Knight Riders won the game by 2 wickets in 19.5 over. Kieron Pollard was selected as player of the match for his game changing performance.
