The 25th T20 match of the Big Bash League 2020-21 was played between Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Renegades at Perth Stadium, Perth on 3 Jan 2021. Melbourne won the toss and invited Perth Scorchers to bat first. Mackenzie Harvey & Will Sutherland were the X-factor Substitutes for the Renegades and Cameron Bancroft & Joel Paris selected as substitutes for Scorchers. Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone were at the crease to open. The new ball was given to Josh Lalor.

Roy and Livingstone gave a slow start and added 29 runs at the end of the first mandatory powerplay. Melbourne was looking for a breakthrough and then left-arm spinner Noor Ahmed brought into the attack in the 6th over. Ahmed got the first breakthrough for his team and Livingstone was sent back by him. Roy was also dismissed by Jack Prestwidge in the 9th over. Josh Inglis and Colin Munro then played nicely and built a partnership of 117 runs. An excellent partnership between Inglis and Munro brought Perth back into the match. Finally, Scorchers successfully made 185 runs at the loss of 3 wickets and gave a challenging target of 186 runs to Renegades. Inglis made unbeaten 72 runs from 41 balls.

Sam Harper and Shaun Marsh came at the crease to chase the target. Jhye Richardson got the new ball. Renegades failed to give a good start and they lost their 3 wickets in the first power play. Excellent bowling performance by Scorchers did not allow Renegades to come back into the match. Melbourne Renegades lost all wickets at the score of just 89 runs and thus Scorchers took over the match by 96 runs.

That was a big win for Perth and Josh Inglis was the Man of the Match for his excellent match-winning innings of 72 runs.
