Mumbai Indians march forward in the tournament beating Hyderabad - The Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians were in a must win situation in the last league match of the tournament. The team winning the match will be moving forward in the knockout stage of the tournament. The 56th match of the tournament was being played in Hyderabad and after winning the toss the Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to bat first. 

A lot was dependent on David Warner for Hyderabad to have a chance to move forward in the tournament. The opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan failed to click for the team. They got out easily as Dhawan lost his wicket in the 1st over of the game while Warner lost his in the 1st ball of the 2nd over. Eoin Morgan also lost his wicket after scoring only 9 runs. The team was struggling in home condition at 3/23 in 6th over. Moises Henriques and Lokesh Rahul took the team cross 50 runs mark in the 10th over of the game. The 10th over of the game saw fall of 2 quick wickets which included the wicket of Henriques and Naman Ojha. The team was in deep trouble as the runs were hard to come. Wickets kept falling as Hyderabad reached at 91/9. The team ended their innings at 113 runs in 20 overs. Rahul was the top scorer for the team as he scored 25 runs. 

Mumbai bowlers gave their team a great chance to make it to the top 2 position of the table. The Mumbai needed to score only 114 runs to reach the top and qualify for the next stage of the tournament. The opening pair Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel gave the team a start which the team needed. They scored 106 runs for the 1st wicket. Simmons after scoring 48 runs lost his wicket. Patel continued to bat well and scored 51 unbeaten runs to take the team cross the line in just 14th over of the game. 

Mumbai Indians won the match and they moved to the next stage of the tournament. Mitchell McClenaghan was named as the man of the match while Simmons won the Yes Bank Maximum Sixes award for hitting 2 sixes in the match.
