The Game 8 of IPL 7 was played between CHENNAI SUPER KINGS and DELHI DAREDEVILS at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. CSK skipper MS Dhoni (W) Won the toss for his team and elected to bat first. DELHI DAREDEVILS suffered a massive loss as they were defeated by CSK by a huge margin of 93 runs and thus CHENNAI SUPER KINGS bounced back in the tournament in great style.  

Earlier in the match the opening pair Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum started the innings for CSK. However, CSK lost the early wicket of McCullum (9 of 10 balls) but Chennai’s Mr. dependable Suresh Raina gave a blazing performance to heal that early blow.  He scored 56 runs in just 41 balls. Dwayne Smith gave an all round performance as he played a steady innings of 29 runs in 28 balls and took 1 wicket. 

Anyway, MS Dhoni and Faf du Plessis finished CSK’s innings on a high note as they scored 32 runs of just 15 balls and 24 runs of 17 balls respectively. CSK got 177 runs on their board by losing 7 wickets after 20 overs. Jaydev Unadkat took 3 of the 7 wickets and Mohammed Shami, Shahbaz Nadeem, Jimmy Neesham shared the other 3 wickets equally as Ravichandran Ashwin got run out by Mohammed Shami. 

DELHI DAREDEVILS began their run chasing very poorly as the lost 4 wickets early before putting 50 runs on the board of Mayank Agarwal (2 of 7 balls), Murali Vijay (11 of 12 balls), Dinesh Karthik (C) (W) (21 of 22 balls) and Manoj Tiwary (0 of 2 balls). CSK boys fielded superbly and took some awesome catches in the field. The danger man JP Duminy failed to perform in this match as he scored 15 runs of 14 balls. Wickets kept on falling for DD as Ross Taylor scored only 6 runs in 6 balls and Jimmy Neesham went for 22 runs in 15 balls. 

CSK’s bowlers did a brilliant job as DD was able to put only 84 runs on their board by losing 9 wickets in 15.4 overs. Nathan Coulter-Nile was injured so he did not come to the ground to bat for Delhi Daredevils. Ishwar Pandey, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin shared two wickets each. On the other hand, Ben Hilfenhaus, Mohit Sharma and Dwayne Smith shared the other 3 wickets equally. 

Yes Bank Maximum Sixes award was given to MS. Dhoni and Faf du Plessis got the Kanna Keep calm Award. Obviously, the Man of the Match award was given to Suresh Raina for his awesome batting display.
