Dramatic Last Over Victory For Zimbabwe Over Netherlands
Zimbabwe after losing their match in the last over of the match had to win this game in order to keep hopes alive for qualifying to the next round. The Zimbabwe faced Netherlands in their second group match of the first round. The Dutch won the toss and they decided to bat first. Four wickets of the Dutch fell pretty early as they were 35/4. It seemed that the bowlers have the match in the pocket and it will be an easy walk for the bowling team. Then a brilliant innings of 72 by Cooper made sure that his team reached a respectable score of 140.
Zimbabwe had a good start to their innings as after losing only a single wicket the team was moving on to the target very firmly. But as the well set batsmen returned to the pavilion it looked as if the team has lost its path towards victory. But a dramatic last over decided the fate of the match and Zimbabwe won the match with a last ball six hit by Sibanda. Taylor the Zimbabwe skipper won the man of the match award for his brilliant knock of 49 which ensured that his team still has a chance of making to the next round.
