Ryan ten Doeschate managed to take Otago to the next round of CLT20 - The third qualifying match was played between the Kandurata Maroons from Sri Lanka and Otago a team from New Zealand. After winning the toss the Otago decided to field first in the PCA stadium situated in Mohali. The Maroons got off to a slow start as they managed to score only 25 runs in the 1st 6 overs losing Shehan Jayasuriya in the process. Kumar Sangakkara this time around managed to score only 13 runs before losing his wicket in the 9th over of the game. Upul Tharanga was the man for the Maroons as he scored 76 runs in the innings before getting out. Apart from these players Dilhara Lokuhettige scored 15 runs and Nuwan Kulasekara scored 14 runs to take their team total to 154 runs losing 9 wickets. The wickets at the end fell sharply. Ian Butler took 3 wickets in the match.

The Otago started off with a strong partnership as the 1st wicket fell in the 4th over of the game. Hamish Rutherford scored 20 runs before leaving his team to a score of 31/1. Brendon McCullum didn’t manage to score much this time around as he lost his wicket after scoring 8 runs. The team was in trouble when the Dutch all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate came into bat. He along with Neil Broom took his team to a score of 89 when Broom lost his wicket after scoring 25 runs. Ryan and Jimmy Neesham carried on and made sure that the run rate never fell. Ryan scored 64 runs while Neesham managed to score the required run with 12 balls still remaining. Dilhara Lokuhettige managed to take on 3 wickets in the match. Ryan ten Doeschate won the man of the match award for his batting performance. The team earned all-important 4 points that take them through to the next round and Maroon’s almost are out of this year’s CLT20.
