England end their world cup campaign with a victory over Afghanistan - The 38th match of the World Cup 2015 was played between Afghanistan and England. This was the last match for the English side in this tournament which was nothing less than a disaster. In the last match against Bangladesh the team was knocked out of the tournament and it was match England needed to play for their respect. Afghanistan on the other hand was looking to impress in the last match of their world cup. In this match after winning the toss England decided to field first.

The English side from the word go looked a different side altogether. The bowlers were looking charged up as they were looking for wickets. The success came in the 7th over of the game for the English bowlers. Nawroz Mangal was the first one to go after scoring only 4 runs. Javed Ahmadi was next in line as he lost his wicket in the 8th over of the innings. He lost his wicket after scoring only 7 runs. Afsar Zazai the next batsmen too didn’t last long as the wickets kept tumbling for Afghanistan. They were struggling at 34/4 in 16th over. After a small partnership between Nasir Jamal and Shafiqullah the wickets started to tumble once again. The team was at 101/7 in maximum of 36.2 overs. This match was reducing to it due to the rain interruption in the middle of the game.

The innings break saw the rain coming down again and hence it resulted in further reduction in overs. The revised score for England to chase was 101 runs in 25 overs. Alex Hales and Ian Bell gave the team a good opening start as they scored 83 runs for the 1st wicket in 13 overs. The 14th over saw the fall of the wicket of Alex hales. He lost his wicket after scoring 37 runs for the team. Ian Bell continued his innings and ended up at 52 unbeaten score as England chased down the score in only 18.1 overs. With this England ended up with a win in the World Cup. Chris Jordan was named as the man of the match for his bowling figures of 13/2 in 6.2 overs.
