The 14th T20 match of the Pakistan Super League was fought between Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans at National Stadium, Karachi on 3 March 2021. The captain of Multan Sultans won the toss and decided to have the ball in hand first. Usman Khan was making his debut for Quetta. Usman Khan and Saim Ayub were sent on the crease to open and Sohail Khan got the new ball in hand to open the attack.
Both the openers of Quetta gave a good start and had made 55 runs without any loss at the end of the mandatory Powerplay. Usman Khan played very well in his debut match and built up an opening partnership of 69 runs with Saim Ayub. The Sultans wanted to break the partnership and the job was done by Imran Tahir. Multan got the first breakthrough of Saim Ayub in 7.6 overs and then Faf du Plessis came to join Usman. Usman was looking very well with the bat and played a wonderful inning of 81 runs from 50 balls that helped the Gladiators to reach a defending total of 176 runs after the end of the 20 overs. That was an excellent start for Usman Khan as a newbie in T20 PSL 2021. Multan got the target of 177 runs from 120 balls to win the 14th T20 match of PSL 2021. Shahnawaz Dhani did a good job with the ball and took 3 wickets for his team in the match.
Mohammad Rizwan, the captain himself, and James Vince came out to the middle in order to chase the target and Mohammad Hasnain got the responsibility to deliver the first over. Multan got a good start and both the openers added 63 runs for the first wicket. The Sultans lost their first wicket of James Vince in 7.6 overs and then Shan Masood came to join Rizwan but could not stay longer. Multan Sultans came under pressure and could not handle the situation and wickets started falling at regular intervals. On the other side, the captain was standing alone on the crease and tried to save the match but did not get enough support from other batsmen. The entire squad was bowled out at the 154 runs and lost the match by 22 runs. Qais Ahmad was the hero for Quetta Gladiators as he took 3 crucial wickets for his team in the match.
Quetta Gladiators won the 14th match of PSL 2021 by 22 runs and Qais Ahmed was named Man of the Match.
