The 6th T20 match of the Pakistan Super League was fought between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United at the venue, National Stadium, Karachi on 24 Feb 2021. Islamabad United won the toss and invited the opposition to bat. Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam came out to the middle for batting and Hasan Ali got the new ball in hand to open the attack.

Both the openers of the Karachi Kings gave a very good start and had made an opening partnership of 176 runs in 18 overs. Every bowler of Islamabad failed to get any breakthrough and that was the record partnership in the history of the Pakistan Super League. The United got the first breakthrough by run out, Babar Azam was unfortunately run out by Hales and Hasan Ali. On the very next delivery, Sharjeel was also sent back by Hasan Ali and Karachi lost 2 wickets continually. Finally, Karachi Kings got the defending total of 196 runs at the loss of 3 wickets at the end of 20 overs. Islamabad got the target of 197 runs to register a victory in the 6th match of PSL 2021.

Phil Salt and Alex Hales were sent to the crease to chase the target and Imad Wasim got the responsibility to deliver the first over. Islamabad United was looking for a good start like Karachi Kings did, but unfortunately, the United lost their 2 wickets at the score of 13 runs in the first two overs of the match. But Alex Hales did not come under pressure and scored quick 45 runs from 21 balls that helped the United to maintain the required run rate. The rest of the work was completed by Iftikhar Ahmed and Hussain Talat. 49 runs of Ahmed and 42 runs of Talat helped the team to achieve the target in 19.1 overs. That was the 2nd victory of Islamabad in the 6th session of the Pakistan Super League.

Islamabad United won the 6th match of PSL 2021 by 5 wickets with 5 balls remaining and Alex Hales was named Man of the Match.
