Kings emerge victorious in a thrilling match against Barbados Tridents - The 5th match of the Oppo Champions League T20 for the year 2014 was played between the Kings XI Punjab and a team from West Indies the Barbados Tridents. This was the match expected to be a cracker of the math to be played in Mohali and it never let down the expectation.

After winning the toss the Kings XI Punjab decided to field first. Their decision of fielding first came in doubts when the Tridents opener started off well. Dilshan Munaweera was on fire and hit the ball all around the park. The Opening pair scored 54 runs in just 5 overs. The very 1st ball of the 6th over saw the fall of William Perkins. He lost his wicket after scoring 10 runs. Munaweera was next to go in the last ball of the 6th over. before losing his wicket Munaweera scored 50 runs off just 26 balls thus doing all his work. Later Raymon Reifer and Jonathon Carter managed to build the innings and never let the run rate fall. Reifer was the one who scored all the runs for the team as he played an unbeaten innings of 60 runs. The Tridents at one moment seemed to bat the Kings XI out but the bowlers managed to crave their way back in the game and Tridents were able to score 178 runs at the end of 20 overs. Parvinder Awana took 3 wickets while bowling.

The Kings needed a good start and it was provided by Manan Vohra. He scored 27 runs in 19 balls but lost his wicket in the 4th over leaving his team at 41/1. Virender Sehwag played a role of an anchor while the other came in and played their shots well. At the end of 10 overs the team were at 95/3. In the process they lost the wicket of dangerous Glenn Maxwell who scored only 16 runs. The 12th over saw the fall of Sehwag who scored 31 runs. The home side was in trouble and in came David Miller. He played one of the best innings as he score 46 runs of 34 balls. Star finisher of the match was Akshar Patel who came late in the innings and scored 23 runs off just 9 balls. His innings won the match for Punjab.

With this win Kings XI Punjab warned 4 points in the tournament. Raymon Reifer won the Suzuki Gixxer power player of the match for hitting maximum sixes. He won USD 2500 while David Miller was named as the Oppo man of the match winning USD 2500 as an award.
