Smith’s century goes in vain as tridents lose the game - The 14th match of the Caribbean Premiere League was played between the Barbados Tridents and Guyana Amazon Warriors. After winning the toss Tridents decided to field first. The decision o fielding first was proven wrong by the opening pair of Martin Guptill and Lendl Simmons. Both took their team to a great start scoring almost at the run rate of 10 runs per over. Simmons was the star of the partnership where he scored 64 runs in just 40 balls while Guptill accompanied him scoring 55 runs in 51 balls. The Tridents go their first success in the 12th over of the innings when they took the wicket of Simmons. Soon the Tridents controlled the flow of run by taking wickets at regular intervals. From 103/1 the team slid to 127/4 scoring only 24 runs in 28 balls. Mohammad Hafeez stole the limelight as in just 10 balls he scored 30 runs taking his team to the score of 173 at the end of 20 overs. Akeal Hosein was the economical bowler for the team giving away only 17 runs in 3 overs.

The second innings of the game was even more interesting as it involved hard hitting and some great comebacks. The first 17 overs were totally dominated by two well-known names in the world of cricket. Dwayne Smith smashed the balls to the boundaries with ease and hence scored 104 runs in just 67 balls. The other player who scored his runs elegantly was Shoaib Malik who scored 50 runs in just 39 balls. Malik fell in the 17th over and that proved to be the turning point. The team needed only 22 runs to win in 20 balls with 8 wickets in hand but some tight bowling from the Warriors saw them restrict the opponents to a score of 166 runs. Warriors won the match by 7 runs and Dwayne Smith was named as the man of the match.
