MUMBAI INDIANS got their first win in the seventh edition of IPL as they defeated KINGS XI PUNJAB by five wickets at their home ground, Wankhede Stadium. KXIP won the toss and elected to bat first. In the beginning KXIP started their innings poorly as Cheteshwar Pujara ( 19 of 18 balls) and Virender Sehwag (1 of 2 balls) departed early in the innings. Anyway, after those early blows Wriddhiman Saha (W) and yet again Glenn Maxwell showed some classy batting performance as they scored 59 of 47 balls and 45 of 27 balls respectively. With the help of Saha and Maxwell KXIP got 168 runs on their board in their 20 overs. Harbhajan Singh claimed two wickets of KXIP by considering 34 runs. Lasith Malinga and Corey Anderson shared one wicket each. 

In reply, MI also lost 2 wickets early in the second innings as Ambati Rayudu (8 of 5 balls) and Ben Dunk (5 of 4 balls) went early because of the brilliance of Sandeep Sharma. But Chidhambaram Gautam (W) (33 of 29 balls) the young man scored some valuable runs for MI. well, the good news for MI is that the big catch for MI Corey Anderson delivered his class of performance in the match as he scored 35 runs in just 25 balls. Rohit Sharma also supported him by a innings of 39 runs in 34 balls. Anyway, after that MI did not have to look back, Kieron Pollard finished the innings for MI in style as he smashed a six to score the winning run. Rishi Dhawan and Sandeep Sharma shared 2 wickets each with a decent economy rate. Lakshmipathy Balaji claimed 1 wicket of MI by considering 38 runs in his allotted 4 overs. Anyway, MUMBAI INDIANS won the match with 5 balls left. 

Corey Anderson was given Man of the Match award for his brilliant all-round performance as he scored some valuable runs and took one wicket also.
