West Indies vs Bangladesh ODI Series 2014 Schedule


Bangladesh cricket team toured the island country of West Indies for playing a 3 match ODI series and 2 match test series. The tour started off with the 3 match ODI series and both the teams were looking well in shape for a win. The West Indians were in form as currently the Caribbean Public League ended up and thus the player was inform.

The 1st match was played at the National Cricket Stadium of St George’s. Here after winning the toss the home side decided to field first. Batting first the Bangladesh side scored 217 runs in 50 overs. During the process of scoring these runs they lost 9 wickets. The Opening pair scored 41 runs for the 1st wicket but then 3 quick wickets brought in the pressure to the visitors. Anamul Haque was the lone batsman for the team who shone. He scored 109 runs in the innings. Dwayne Bravo on the other hand took 4 wickets to give the required edge to his team. The West Indies team too was unable to get a good start as they were restricted to 5-34 in 14 overs only. It seemed that the Bangladesh has got the game in hands. It was Denesh Ramdin and Kieron Pollard who made sure that the team didn’t lose the game easily and together they setup the game. Ramdin scored 74 runs and Pollard scored 89 to script the victory in the 1st match. Al-Amin Hossain took 4 wickets for the visitors.

The 2nd match saw the home side batting first after losing the toss. Chris Gayle and Darren Bravo scored 58 and 53 respectively. Denesh Ramdin and Lendl Simmos too helped in the middle order scoring 34 and 40 respectively. These batsmen were the reason why the home side was able to reach 247 runs in 50 overs. Mashrafe Mortaza took 3 wickets for his side. After a good bowling performance the visitors faced a humiliating moment in the match as the whole team was bowled out at a score of 70. Tamim Iqbal was the only player who reached a double figure mark as he scored 37 runs apart from him the wickets fell constantly and thus the 2nd match was won by 177 runs. Kemar Roach and Sunil Narine took 3 wickets each in the match. With this win the home side bagged the series.

The 3rd and the final match were played at St. Kitts. In the match the visitors won the toss and decided to field first. They faced a tough challenge in taking the wicket of Darren Bravo and Denesh Ramdin as these batsmen with their batting set the whole match for home side. Bravo scored 124 and Ramdin scored 169 as the home side compiled a total of 338 runs. Al-Amin Hossain took 4 wickets in the match. Bangladesh faced an uphill task of scoring 339 runs in 50 overs. Tamim Iqbal score 55 and Mushfiqur Rahim scored 72 runs in the match. Their efforts were not supported by the middle order batsmen and hence the team was able to score only 247 runs at the end of 50 overs. The match was won by West Indies thus they successfully completed a series win by 3-0. Denesh Ramdin was named as the man of the series as he top scored in the series.
