Otago wins the super over to win the match against Lions - The 14th match of the Champions League T20 saw the Lions come face to face against the Otago. It was a war between the South African team and the New Zealander’s. The match was played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Otago after winning the toss decided to field first. The Lions got off to a stable start as the openers scored 44 runs in just 7 overs before losing the wicket of Rassie van der Dussen after scoring 17 runs. The 12th over of the game yet again saw the fall of 2nd wicket. The Lions lost some quick wickets as the middle order fell without contributing to the cause of scoring runs. It was Quinton de Kock who scored most of the runs in the match as he scored 109 runs in just 63 balls. He alone took the team to a score of 167 runs at the end of 20 overs. Nick Beard took 2 wickets in the match.

The Otago too found it difficult to bat in the match. They lost 2 wickets pretty early just in the 4th over of the innings. Hamish Rutherford and Derek de Boorder stitched a partnership together thus controlling the innings. Both the batsmen scored 32 runs each and the team was once again in trouble as they lost 4 quick wickets in the match. The team was at 103/6 in the 15th over and was in huge trouble. The match changed from the arrival of Jimmy Neesham who scored 52 runs in the last 25 balls to take the team to the super over of the game. This was the 1st super over of the tournament. The Otago team scored 13 runs in the eliminator over and the Lions too scored the same run in the one over eliminator but they lost 2 wickets thus the Otago emerged as the winners.
