The Champions League T20 is a tournament made up off all the champions around the world. This tournament comprised of all the various T20 teams playing in the domestic T20 tournament. The tournament has direct entries to the Champions league from the New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, India and West Indies. Apart from that one team from India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka play in the qualifying round of the league. The four teams play together against each other and the top 2 teams get the chance to fight it out.
The Qualification round of the tournament saw the Otago and Sunrisers Hyderabad qualify easily after beating the team from Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This was an easy task for Otago as they entered the Group A by topping in the qualifying round while the Sunrisers Hyderabad qualified 2nd making it to the Group B. The 1st match of the tournament started with Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians come face to face. This was a repeat fixture of the IPL semi-final and it ended up with the different team on the winning side. The tournament progressed and the other teams provided a good of challenge to the other teams. The Group A was a more competitive group and it saw various teams fight it out. The Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals faced better challenges. The second part of the tournament saw some rain interruption and this interruption came in the matches who could have had changed qualification of the teams to the playoff round. The game changed and saw Rajasthan Royals; Mumbai Indians qualify from the Group A while Chennai Super Kings and Trinidad & Tobago qualified from Group B.
The 1st semi-final of the tournament was played in the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur between the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. It was a match where the men in yellow failed and it saw the Royals win the match comprehensively. With this win the team marched forward to the finals of the tournament. In the 2nd semi-final of the tournament saw the Mumbai Indians fight it out against the Trinidad & Tobago. In the match Dwayne Smith helped the team to put a great fight and win the match easily. The Mumbai Indians marched to the final making it a repeat final of IPL yet again. The Final was played in the Feroz Shah Kotla where Mumbai while batting 1st made 202 runs and yet again Dwayne Smith was the man who scored 44 runs. The young brigade of Royals started off well with Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson. They both put up a great fight but then the fight was stopped by some great bowling by the bowlers. Harbhajan Singh took 4 wickets in the match and was named as the man of the math as Mumbai were named as the champions of the T20 world.
Ajinkya Rahane was the top scorer in the tournament but Dwayne Smith was named as the man of the tournament as he changed the game with his bat in the later stages of the tournament. The young Pravin Tambe was the highest wicket taker taking 12 wickets in the tournament.
