Zimbabwe register a had fought win against UAE - The 8th match of the World cup was played between the Pool B countries. It was a match between Zimbabwe and United Arab Emirates. The teams are no super power when it comes to cricket but with their style of play they have recently raised some eyes towards them. In this match after winning the toss Zimbabwe decided to bowl first.

Batting first the UAE had a good steady start to their innings. Without losing many wickets the team reached a good position. The openers didn’t have a good start but slowly the team did move on and they posted a score of 122/3 in 28 overs. Krishna Chandran and Khurram Khan scored most of the runs in reaching to this point. The team later moved on and scored 285 runs as the middle order survived well under pressure. Shaiman Anwar played an important innings of 67 runs which came in just 50 balls and this changed the momentum binging it to UAE. At the end of 50 overs the team posted a score of 285 runs. Tendai Chatara was the best bowler from Zimbabwe side taking 3 wickets.

Chasing the score of 286 Zimbabwe had a good start to the game with the openers providing a good start of 64 runs in 13 overs. Sikandar Raza after scoring 46 runs lost his wicket and was first one to go. The UAE team came back hard taking some quick wickets and they restricted the team to 112/3. Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams had other things in mind as they together built the innings and took the team to a safe score. Taylor after scoring 47 runs lost his wicket while Sean continued and scored 76 unbeaten runs. He was helped on by Craig Ervine as he scored 42 runs and contributed majorly in his team’s victory. Zimbabwe won the match with 2 overs and 4 wickets to spare and Sean Williams was named as the man of the match.
