Bangladesh Dominate Afghanistan in their opening match - The 7th match of the World Cup 2015 saw two teams from Pool A come together to fight it out against each other. The match was played between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. In this match it was interesting to see that the associate nation will prove its worth against a team like Bangladesh. After winning the toss the Bangladesh side decided to bat first.

After a good start of 47 runs the Asian tigers lost their 1st wicket in the form of Tamim Iqbal. He scored 19 runs in 42 balls and lost his wicket. Afghan bowlers tighten their screws even more when they restricted the team to a score of 119/4 in 30th over of the game. The opener Anamul Haque was the top scorer among the 4 wickets that fell as he scored 29 runs. Shakib Al Hassan and Mushfiqur Rahim came into bat for the tigers and they made sure that the team didn’t lose the advantage of batting first. They together took their team to a total of 267 runs in 50 overs. Shakib scored 63 runs while Rahim scored 71 runs. These two batsmen played a great role in making this score on the board. Shapoor Zadran was the best bowler for the Afghans as he took 2 wickets and gave away only 20 runs in his 7 overs.

The Afghans had a tough target ahead as Bangladesh is renowned as a good bowling unit. It was proved once again as Bangladesh took 3 wickets in the first 3 overs of the chase. The Afghan team didn’t get the chance to settle down as two more wickets fell thus they got restricted to a score of 78/5 in 26 overs. Nawroz Mangal scored 27 runs while Samiullah Shewari scored 42 runs to take the team to this position. Mohammad Nabi who came in next scored 44 runs and helped the team to reach a score of 162 before getting all-out. With this the Bangladesh team was able to win the game by 105 runs Mashrafe Mortaza took 3 wickets in his spell and was the best bowler on the day. Mushfiqur Rahim was named as the man of the match for his batting performance.
