The 38th match of the 2020 version of IPL was played between Punjab and Delhi at Dubai International Stadium, Dubai, on 20th October. Kings XI Punjab was captained by Lokesh Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer was captain of Delhi Capitals. Delhi won the toss and chose to bat first.

From Delhi Capitals, Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw started the inning, but as usual, Prithvi Shaw could not show his talent once again and got out at an individual score of 7 in the 4th over. Shreyas Iyer came to bat with Dhawan but unfortunately could not sustain long on the pitch and got out at an individual score of 14. On one end, Dhawan was playing good shots all around, and hence the scoreboard was moving. Rishabh Pant also got out at a personal score of 14, and Marcus Stonis could also make 9 runs only. Shimron Hetmyer and Shikhar Dhawan played till the 20th over. Dhawan made not out 106, which helped the team reach the score of 164 at the end of 20 overs. Except for Dhawan, no other batsmen could play well. From KXIP, Mohammed Shami was the most successful bowler with 2 wickets.

Kings XI Punjab needed 165 runs to win in 20 overs. From Punjab, Lokesh Rahul and Mayank Agarwal started the inning. Rahul got out early in this match. Chris Gayle joined Agarwal, and they both played well. Watching Gayle playing big shots was a great joy, but he got out at 29. However, before getting out, he played his role well. Nicholas Pooran joined Mayank, but soon Mayank also got out, and hence the score of the team was 56/3 in 6th over only. The bowling attack from DC was good, which kept the movement and shot selection of batsmen restricted. The task of 165 was looking difficult for KXIP, but a grand inning from Pooran changed the game in favour of KXIP. He played well and made 53 runs in 28 balls only. Glenn Maxwell also contributed 32 runs in this match. In the end, Jimmy Neesham and Deepak Hooda were just to complete the formality of winning as the team was in a good position. From DC, Kagiso Rabada was the most successful bowler who got 2 wickets. KXIP won the match by wickets with one over spare.

Shikhar Dhawan was declared as the player of the match for his grand century. He made not out 106 runs in 61 balls only.
