The 1st match of the One Day International series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe was played on March 1, Sunday, at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. M Mortaza was the captain of Bangladesh team, and C Chibhabha was the captain of Zimbabwe team. Bangladesh captain won the toss and decided to bat first.

Bangladesh openers gave a good start to the team and made 60 runs for the 1st wicket. T. Iqbal got out early on 24, but Litton Das played brilliantly and scored a brilliant century and made the most 126 runs for Bangladesh. M. Mithun also scored a half-century and made 50 runs. C. Mpofu took 2 wickets for Zimbabwe and Bangladesh scored 321 runs in their 50 over. It was a satisfying total for Bangladesh.

Chasing 322 against Bangladesh was difficult for Zimbabwe team. Zimbabwe openers failed to show good cricket under pressure and got out early. Both the openers got out on below 10 score. Zimbabwe captain scored just 10 runs. Zimbabwe batting collapsed badly, and it was a hopeless situation for Zimbabwe team. Bangladesh bowlers bowled accurately and dominated over Zimbabwe batsmen. The most experienced Zimbabwe player B. Taylor also failed to play good cricket and scored just 8 runs. Middle-order batsman W. Madhevere scored the most 35 runs for Zimbabwe team. Zimbabwe team got all out under 40 over and on the score of just 152 runs. M. Saifuddin took the most 3 wickets for Bangladesh team while captain Mortaza and M. Hasan took 2 wickets each.

Bangladesh won the first match of the series by 169 runs and took an early lead of 1-0 in the 3 match series. Bangladesh opener Litton Das was selected as the player of the match for his brilliant match-winning century. Bangladesh captain looked happy with the team performance while it was disappointing for Zimbabwe team.
