Sri Lanka struck first win in the Test Match 2015 against India in their own playground-Galle International Stadium: The match was held on the 12th of August at Galle International Stadium in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka hosted India and having an advantage of playing in their own country, Sri Lanka swept the Indian Team off their feet in the very first test match.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka decided to bowl. The first inning started with dull attempt from Sri Lanka's side where both Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Silva lost their wicket as caught out by Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan in the 6th and 7th overs respectively. Angelo Mathews made his first half century. The Sri Lankan team got all out with the target of 183 runs in 49.4 overs for India in their first inning. From Indian side Ravichandran Ashwin took 6 wickets.

In the second inning, when it came to India's batting skills, Virat Kohli stolen the limelight. Being one of the top scorers in this four days test match series, Virat scored a century in his first inning with 103 and Shikhar Dhawan also scored 134. Indian got all out for 375 runs in 117.4 overs with a lead of 192 runs in the first inning. From the Sri Lankan side Tharindu Kaushal proved effective bowler with 5 wickets in his record.

Sri Lanka came up with an intention of chase of lead in the second inning but in the beginning only, both the openers had to lose their wicket due to impressive bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra. With the help of great inning played by Dinesh Chandimal with the score of 162 the team set a respective score of 367 runs in 82.2 overs. Again Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra proved as successful bowlers from Indian side with 4 and 3 wickets respectively.

Team India entered the field with a target of 176 runs only in the second inning but the top order of the team collapsed surprisingly. The whole team was able to make only 112 runs in 49.5 overs. From Sri Lankan side Ranagana Herath took 7 wickets. The match ended with winning of Sri Lanka by 63 runs. Dinesh Chandimal being the top scorer was awarded the title of the Man of the Match for his 59 and 162.
