Kolkata Knight Riders top the table after beating Punjab - Kings XI Punjab was already out of the Indian Premiere League due to the bad form while Kolkata Knight Riders the defending champions were looking to top the table in the 44th match of the IPL 2015. This match was hosted by the defending champions at the Eden Gardens. This was last match of the tournament to be hosted before the finals and after winning the toss Kings XI Punjab decided to bat first.

The pair of Murali Vijay and Manan Vohra gave the team a start of 45 runs in 6 overs. Vijay after scoring 28 runs lost his wicket to Sunil Narine. Wriddhiman Saha came into bat along with Vohra and they together took the team to 78 runs in 11th over where Vohra lost his wicket after scoring 39 runs. Later Saha along with Glenn Maxwell scored some massive runs. Maxwell made a comeback in the tournament with a 43 runs innings scoring 22 balls. Saha scored 33 runs as Punjab was set to a big total but the 17th over changed the cards for KKR. Narine took both the wickets in the same over taking his tally to 4 in this match. David Miller came in next and scored 27 runs in 11 balls. With the help of his innings the team posted a score of 183 runs against KKR. Narine was the star bowler as he took 4 wickets giving away 19 runs.

Kolkata Knight Riders had a tough task at hand as chasing 184 was always tricky on this pitch. Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir gave the team a give quick start. They scored 31 runs in 3.3 overs but Uthappa lost his wicket after scoring 17 runs in 11 balls. Manish Pandey played a blasting knock of 22 runs in 15 balls. Suryakumar Yadav failed to score runs as he scored 9 runs. Gambhir before losing his wicket scored 24 runs. The team was at a tough situation when Yusuf Pathan and Andre Russell came into bat. KKR were at 83 runs in 11 overs and required 100 more runs in 9 overs. Pathan scored 29 runs before losing his wicket. Russell was the game changer as he scored 51 runs in 21 balls. He took the team to a score of 159 runs in 17th over. He lost his wicket when the team needed him to finish the game. Piyush Chawla ended the innings for KKR winning the game. With this win KKR now topped the table.

Russell won the man of the match and Yes Bank Maximum sixes award while Narine won the HotStar award.
