Chennai Super Kings hold their nerves to win a high scoring game - The 8th match of the Oppo Champions League T20 2014 was played between the Indian team and a South African team. The match was played between Chennai Super Kings and Dolphins. This was the first match to be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The pitch was a heaven for the batsmen. After winning the toss Dolphins decided to field first.

Dwayne Smith once again was not able to provide the team a good start. He scored 7 runs of 3 balls and lost his wicket in the very 1st over of the match. Later Suresh Raina and Brendon McCullum made it difficult for the bowlers McCullum scored 49 runs of 29 balls before losing his wicket in the 9th over of the match. Faf du Plessis then joined Raina and rained some huge blows on the bowling side. Raina scored 90 runs of 43 balls and Faf du Plessis scored 30 runs off 19 balls. While batting the team was nicely in control and cruising. In the last part of the innings Ravindra Jadeja came in and played an unbeaten innings off 40 runs in just 14 balls. With this power batting the team finished their 1st innings setting up a mammoth total of 242 runs. Robbie Frylinck was the top wicket taker in the match as he took 2 wickets.

The Dolphins had a tough task in hand of winning the game and required a great start. The openers Morne van Wyk and Cameron Delport gave their team an outstanding start. In just 1.3 overs the team reached a score of 34 but a controversial decision in the next ball saw the fall of van Wyk who scored 17 runs off 7 balls. Later Delport keep hitting the ball hard he scored 34 runs off 9 balls taking his team to a score of 56 in just 3 overs but lost his wicket in the process. The Dolphins had a great start and Cody Chetty took the team to a better position as he managed to score 37 runs but lost his wicket in the 11th over leaving his team at 115/4. This was the end of all the hopes for the Dolphins as the men in yellow were in command and won the match by 54 runs as the Dolphins ended their innings at 188.

With this win the Chennai Super Kings earned 4 important points in the tournament. Suresh Raina won the Suzuki Gixxer Power Player award for hitting maximum sixes and Oppo Man of the Match award. For both the awards he earned total prize money of USD 5000.
