The Indian cricket squad has got some big plans coming up in July-August 2023 as they pack their bags and will head to the West Indies for a thrilling series of three one-day international (ODI) matches. It's going to be a face-off between West Indies and India in an action-packed bilateral showdown. The first two ODIs are going down at the renowned Kensington Oval in Barbados. And the last ODI of the India tour of West Indies 2023 will be held at none other than the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago. The West Indies vs India ODI series 2023 will kick off their journey with the first ODI which will be played on 27 July, then the second ODI and third ODI of WI vs Ind ODI series 2023 will be held on 29 July and 01 August 2023.

India's most recent visit to the West Indies occurred in 2022 when they competed in a three-match ODI series, led by captain Shikhar Dhawan. In the first ODI, India secured a narrow victory by a margin of three runs, followed by a second ODI win by two wickets, ultimately clinching the West Indies vs India ODI series. The third ODI saw India triumph with a convincing 119-run lead. Consequently, India emerged triumphant with a 3-0 series score, and Shubman Gill was awarded the Man of the Series title for his exceptional performance, amassing 205 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal and Shardul Thakur stood out as India's leading wicket-takers in the series.

As for the teams, Rohit Sharma is currently leading the Indian ODI squad as the captain. And most likely, he'll continue to lead the team in the upcoming tour, with the legendary Rahul Dravid as the coach. On the other side, Shai Hope will be taking charge of the Windies team, guided by the experienced Daren Sammy. Currently, India holds the 3rd position in the ICC ODI team ranking while West Indies is sitting at the 10th position. The West Indies skipper Shai Hope has got a good track record in ODI as he has played 100+ matches and added more than 4500+ runs with an awesome batting average of 49+. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma does not need words for showing his capability with the white balls. In more than 200+ ODIs, he has already made more than 9800 runs.

In terms of head-to-head in ODI, West Indies, and India have faced each other on 139 occasions where India won 70 and lost 63 matches. Overall, as of June 2023, India has appeared in 1029 matches where they achieved victory in 539 and faced defeat in 438 matches. On the other hand, West Indies has contested 858 ODIs where they won 415 matches and lost 403.
