The Women’s Premier League 2023 is the domestic T20 cricket tournament that is intended for finding young talented women cricket players. The WPL 2023 will make its debut on 4 March 2023 from the DY Patil Stadium where two teams, Gujarat Gaints and Mumbai Indians will face each other. The TATA WPL, organized by the BCCI, is a major step to boost women’s cricket in the nation and it also provides opportunities for fresh cricketers to show their talents.
In the inaugural season of TATA WPL, the tournament will take 5 women’s cricket teams to participate and each team has to go through Round robin and then a playoff round. The Women's Premier League will feature a total of 20 games and two playoff games in its opening edition, all of which will last 23 days. The competition seems to be an entertaining encounter as the players fight for the cherished championship.
The auction for the upcoming WPL 2023 took place in Mumbai on 13th February in which 1,525 female cricketers were enrolled for the bidding. The Franchisees were allowed to pick their favorites from 246 Indian players and 163 foreign players. At the bidding, contestants have been categorized into five pricing structures: Rs 50 lakh, Rs 40 lakh, Rs 30 lakh, Rs 20 lakh, and Rs 10 lakh. Smriti Mandhana became the most expensive player after being picked up by the RCB at the cost of 3.4 crores.

WPL 2023 Venues
The opening season of the Women’s Premier League will commence on March 4 and will conclude on March 26, 2023. All the matches of the WPL 2023 will compete at Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. The DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai will witness a combined total of 11 events apiece. Brabourne Stadium has a capacity of 20,000 whereas DY Patil Stadium has a capacity of 45,000 people to take in.
