Sri Lanka vs Australia T20 Series 2022


After a gap of 6 years, Australia will visit Sri Lanka in the month of June 2022 for playing 3 T20 international matches as confirmed by the cricket governing body of Australia. Sri Lanka vs Australia T20 series 2022 will comprise 3 T20 matches which will begin with the 1st T20 at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on 7th June, then the 2nd will be fought on 8th June at the same stadium, then both the squad will move to Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy for 3 T20 on 11th June 2022. Last time, Australia came to Sri Lanka in the month of June 2016 for the 2 T20I series and Australia won the series by 2-0. Recently, Sri Lanka visited Australia in the month of February 2022 to play 5 T20I series where they lost the series by 3-1.

Dasun Shanaka will take command of the Sri Lanka cricket team for the T20 series whereas Australia will play under the leadership of Aaron Finch. Currently, Australia is sitting at the number 6th position in the ICC T20 team ranking and Sri Lanka is listed at the 10th position. Considering the T20 World Cup 2022, the T20 series between Sri Lanka and Australia will be beneficial to prepare themselves for the upcoming T20 World Championship in Australia. Australia will get a competitive edge as well as another fantastic opportunity to shine on the international stage through this tour.

In the last T20 World Cup 2021, the Australian team showed excellent effort in every field of cricket whether it is batting, bowling or fielding. These guys performed very well and became the T20 World Champions for the first time. On the other hand, Sri Lanka could not perform well and their journey ended very soon. The winning percentage of Australia is almost 54 whereas Sri Lanka is below 50 i.e. 46.57. 

After losing a 5 T20I series in Australia, Sri Lanka will come out to the middle with hope and strategies to take revenge; Sri Lanka also gets the benefit of their homeland. Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Marsh are the names who are popular for their aggressive batting style and they are the strength of Australia.  So, it would be interesting to watch how Sri Lanka will perform against Australia in the month of June 2022.
