The latter got out at the score of 38, but Rogers joined the party and both batsmen batted all throughout the day posting score of 337 for the loss of just one wicket. Mitchell Johnson was particularly lethal when he got 3 wickets for 53 runs. During the start of the innings, England was reduced to 30/4 due to superb bowling from the Australian pace attack. Cook along with Ben stokes fought hard to salvage the situation and added 55 runs for the fifth wicket however Stokes was removed. With a massive first inning lead, Australia build up the pressure in the second innings as David Warner hit 83 runs off 116 balls while his team coasted to 254 run for the loss of 2 wickets.
