Kings XI Punjab has done it again against Chennai Super Kings as they defeated M.S. Dhoni’s CSK by 44 runs in a massive high scoring match. Once again Glenn Maxwell is the man for KXIP, he just smashed all the bowlers of CSK all over the ground as Maxwell “The Maximum” scored 90 runs of just 38 balls. However, Virender Sehwag and Mandeep Singh opened the innings for KXIP. Sehwag gave a steady start after KXIP lost their first wicket of Mandeep Singh (3 of 8 balls), he scored 30 runs of 23 balls.

Anyway, David Miller and George Bailey (C) played a brilliant innings to support the formidable batting of Maxwell as they scored 47 of 32 balls and 40 runs of just 13 balls respectively. With the help of these extraordinary batting displays KXIP managed to put up a huge total of 231 runs against CSK by just loosing 4 wickets.

In front of Maxwell, Miller and Bailey show CSK bowlers seemed nothing as any of the bowlers was failed gave a decent performance against KXIP. However, Mohit Sharma claimed 2 wickets and conceded 38 runs in his allotted 4 overs. Well, the other 2 wickets were taken by Ben Hilfenhaus and Dwayne Smith.

While chasing a really huge target of 232 runs CSK lost their man in form Dwayne Smith very early as he scored only 4 runs of 4 balls. After that early big blow Brendon McCullum and Suresh Raina made a decent partnership but that was not enough to chase that much of a big score. McCullum went after scoring 33 runs of 29 balls and Raina played 27-balls knock and scored 35 runs. In the near end of the second innings Faf du Plessis and MS Dhoni (C) (W) smashed some quick runs but that was too late to win the match. Faf scored 52 runs of just 25 balls and the CSK skipper went after scoring 23 runs of 20 balls as CSK managed to score only 187 runs in their allotted 20 overs by losing 6 wickets.

Among the bowlers of KXIP Mitchell Johnson took 2 valuable wickets by considering 37 runs in his limited 4 overs. Sandeep Sharma, Glenn Maxwell and Rishi Dhawan shared 3 wickets equally. For the 4th time Glenn Maxwell got the Man of the Match award in IPL 7 for his unbelievable solo performance with the bat.
