Debutant Craig takes up eight to win the match for Kiwi’s - West Indies currently is facing a tough time in the test arena. After losing two test series away from home. The West Indies played as hosts to New Zealand for three test match series. The first test match was played in the famous ground of Kingston. The first test started on 8th June when the kiwi’s won the toss and decided to bat first. On the first day of the match the kiwis dominated the proceedings as they put 240 on the scoreboard losing 2 wickets. Kane Williamson completed his century as was still at the crease at the end of the days play. The second day was yet again dominated by the black caps as they scored 508 before declaring the innings. Jimmy Neesham and Williamson were the two centurions for the team. After being put into bat the West Indian batsman collapsed on the third day of the test. Day 3 saw in total 12 wickets as the home side was all out at a score of 262.Shivnarine Chanderpaul top scored for the team while Mark Craig the debutant took 4 wickets. 

On the day 4, the visitors batted the home team out of the match in the second innings as they scored 156 runs setting up a target of 403 runs for the home team. It was a tough ask for a batting line up like that of West Indies. Jerome Taylor was the highest wicket taker for the team as he took 3 wickets in the innings. West Indies in the second innings were at fault again as the team was bowled out by the Kiwi’s in the 4th day of the match. The debutant Craig yet again took 4 wickets in the innings taking eight for the match. While the bowler Shane Shillingford was the top scorer for West Indies as he scored 53 runs in the second innings. Mark Craig was named as the man of the match for his debut test performance as New Zealand now leads the series by 1-0.
