Chris Gayle powers West Indies to a series win against South Africa - The 2nd T20 international between South Africa and West Indies was played at the New Wanderers. It was a match which broke some records of cricket. In this match the visiting team won the toss and decided to field first.

The South Africans lost their openers pretty cheaply as Reeza Rossouw and Morne van Wyk lost their wickets scoring 15 and 4 runs respectively. Faf du Plessis came into bat when the home team needed a partnership and he along with David Miller built the innings. Miller scored 47 runs of 26 balls before being run out in the 11th over. On the other hand Faf kept on batting and blasted his way to a century. He scored 119 runs before losing his wicket. In his innings he scored 11 4’s and 5 6’s having a strike rate of 212.50. it was an innings that helped South Africa post a total of 231 runs in the end of 20 overs. The bowlers went out for a great hitting as they had a bad day with Dwayne Bravo managed to maintain an economy of 8 taking 2 wickets was the best bowler for West Indies.

The visitors had a tough target to chase but it was not impossible as the team had previously chased the target in the same venue. This night once again seemed to be a repeat of that day as Chris Gayle scored 90 runs in just 41 balls hitting 7 6’s and 9 4’s. he was helped on by Marlon Samuels who scored 60 runs off 39 balls. They together helped to keep the run rate way above as they took the team to 178/3 in 15.1 overs. The team needed to score few runs which they did comfortably winning the match with 4 balls remaining. It was a record chase in a T20 International and with this win the West Indies won the series as they led the 3 match series by 2-0. Chris Gayle was named as the man of the match.
