Netherland Chase Down To Qualify For The Next Round
Netherlands Played Ireland in their final match of the 1st round. This match was nothing less than a knock out game as the team winning would have qualified for the next round. Netherlands after winning the toss elected to field first. Ireland when put into bat used the opportunity to the fullest and scored runs at a quick pace. The opener Porterfield scored 47 runs giving his team a perfect start to the crunch game. Poynter the middle order batsmen gave his team the much required edge by scoring 57 off 38 balls and with this the team scored 189 runs.
The score was nothing less than a mountain as it was an all-important match for both the teams. But the Dutch opener was determined to win it for his team and hence scored 63 off just 23 balls. Though the star off the show was a Barresi who coming late in the innings scored 45 runs in just 15 deliveries making sure his team crosses the target easily. Man of the match award was given to the Dutch opener for giving his team a blazing start to the run chase. In his innings he scored 11 boundaries out of which 7 were in the form of sixes. With this win the Dutch qualified for the next round of WT20 championship.
