CSK VS KKR

Today is the clash between Chennai Super Kings led by MS Dhoni with that of Kolkata Knight Riders led by Gautam Gambhir.
Kolkata has already suffered a defeat in their home match against Chennai and will be hoping to return back the favor. Chennai on the other hand has played like a unit and are sitting on number 2 position in the point table. Their strong top order has been very well backed up by the likes of Dhoni, Jadeja and Bravo who have torn apart the opposition bowlers in the death overs.
Bowling unit of CSK has been disciplined as well with Mohit Sharma and Chris Morris leading the fast bowling line up and R Ashwin has been economical too in spin department.
Hussey has been in tremendous form with 350 runs in 7 matches and an average of 70 is just outstanding.
Now coming to Kolkata, they have Kallis in form player who is contributing with bat as well as the ball but the most important part is being played by Narine in all their matches. Sunil Narine has picked up 14 wickets in 8 matches and an economy of just 5.85.
Eoin Morgan is playing few cameos as well and has brought couple of victories for Kolkata.

Kallis is doing great and appearing to be the ace for KKR. Best thing is that he is a good all rounder and satisy both needs of a captain.

Raina and Micheal Hussey did very well and both scored good.

News from the center has been that KKR has won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Murali Vijay has been replaced with W Saha and he has opened up the innings of Chennai Super Kings with Mike Hussey.
Here Chennai goes scoring briskly and they posted a massive total of 103 runs for the loss of no wickets in the first 10 overs.
What a player Mike Hussey is. This is his 4th half century of the tournament and he has a very good opportunity to get to his first century of the tournament. Saha has played a good innings too. He is on 39 runs off just 22 balls which includes 4 boundaries and 2 sixes.
Can Chennai score above 200?

Finally Chennai has managed to score exact 200 and Kolkata has 201 to chase. Mike Hussey missed out another opportunity of making his first century for IPL 6 and was dismissed on 95 at deep mid wicket when he went for a six off the slog.
Raina contributed well as he went on to score 44 runs off just 25 balls which included 4 boundaries and 1 six.
Dhoni finished up the innings with a six over cow corner and took Chennai total to 200.
Pitch look hard and very good for batting.
Kolkata has fire power as well but it will really need top order to clik to chase this massive total down.

Kolkata batting second started with fire power from Bisla and Gambhir but Gambhir went back to the pavillion too quickly.
Bisla carried on his innings from there and went on to score his highest score of T20 format that is 92 runs off just 61 balls which included 14 boundaries and 2 sixes. Eoin Morgan played a good innings of 32 runs as well but that wasn't sufficient to chase down a mighty score of 201 runs.
Match was very much in the hands of KKR who were going so steadily and smoothly on the way of chase. Turning point was the throw from Mike Hussey again which hit the stumps direct at non striker end and dismissed Birla on 92.
Kolkata lost the match by just 16 runs.
Man of the match award has been given to Mike Hussey for his brilliant knock of 95 runs and a run out of Bisla which turned the game around.

Although KKR lost the match by 14 runs, but they performed well and being on the chasing side, they managed to score 186 runs. This is pretty good performance.

Now KKR need to focus on the bowling side.

@skyshot: The fact cannot be ignored that Chennai fielded very bad today and dropped few catches of Eoin Morgan, Kallis and missed out few run out opportunities including a stumping chance off R Jadeja.
Keeping was sloppy as well.
Had those were in places, Kolkata would have never gone done to such a massive score as well.
But when cricket is taken into account, such things always tends to happen.
All together it was a great fought work from Kolkata as well and they took the game till the last ball of the match.
Death bowling by Chris Morris was just too good for Kolkata who could not chip in runs needed in the last over and lost the game by 14 runs.
Has Yusuf Pathan given few blows or Kallis contributed few quick runs, Kolkata would have probably ended up on the winning side.
Scoring 92 runs for a losing side hurts and Bisla might be feeling sad about it.

Difference between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings will always be cool head captain M S Dhoni.

The pitch was good, batting line up of Kolkata wasn't bad either and this could have been a successful chase had Gambhir played with cool head. Run rate was amazingly going good, 8 runs had already come off the Morris's over in just 3 balls and even then Gambhir went for an ugly slog on a full ball which uprooted the leg stump.

While chasing a total of 200, it is very important to have a good start from the opening pair and if you don't provide it, pressure mount up and you land on to the losing side.

Though much of the work was done by Bisla but nobody else could play a cracking inning and Kolkata lost in the end.

Not to forget Dhoni as well Raina missed one stumping and catch.

Ashwin dropped a sitter as well which also resulted in few runs for Kolkata but when you are playing these things do happen and can be ignored.

If you really see, fielding unit of CSK is currently the best among all other IPL teams.
Yes, fielding in this match was below their level but that doesn't mean they are bad fielding side. It was just not their day on the field.
Bravo is the most athletic cricketer in the world followed by electric fielder in the form of Suresh Raina. Then we have Ravindra Jadeja who is quick in the field and his strong arm and bent throw can catch many players short of their crease. S Badrinath is run out specialist and boundary saver in the team.
Albie Morkel and Faf Du Plesis being South African players cannot be questioned about their fielding abilities as they are born doing fielding.
W Saha and Murali Vijay rarely drops any catch.
It was a rare occasion as well that Dhoni was sloppy that day but he will really come strong in the next match.
All you need is to just wait and watch.
