Indians make it five on five with a win against Ireland - The 34th match of the world cup 2015 was played between India and Ireland. The Indians were on top of the Pool B while Ireland in this match was looking to solidify their position in the top 8 of the world cup. The Irish had a good run in the tournament till date and has a great chance of reaching the next round. India on the other hand emerged as the defending champions creating difficulties for all the teams they played against. In this match after winning the toss Ireland chose to bat.

Irish team got off to a great start as the openers William Porterfield and Paul Stirling batted well against the inform Indian bowling. The opening pair crafted an 89 runs stand in 15 overs. Stirling after scoring 42 runs lost his wicket as Indians introduced spin. It was Ravichandran Ashwin who brought the first success to the men in blue. Ed Joyce the inform batsman too lost his wicket as Suresh Raina bowled him. Porterfield after scoring 67 runs fell and this brought hopes for Indian team to control the flow of run. Irish team was at 145/ 3 in 32nd over and had great chances of scoring a huge target. The Indian bowlers struck taking wicket of Andy Balbirinie in the 39th over. He scored 24 runs before losing his wicket. This wicket opened doors for Indians as they bowled the Irish out for a score of 259 runs. Niall O’Brien scored 75 runs and was the highest scorer for Irish team. Mohammed Shami took 3 wickets in the match for India.

Indian batting order needed some batting practice and the openers made a good start to the game. The pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan scored 174 runs giving their team a good solid start. In the 24th over Rohit Sharma lost his wicket after scoring 64 runs. Shikhar Dhawan too lost his wicket in the 28th over after scoring 100 runs. He left his team at a score of 190 runs. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane stitched a partnership together to take Indians home without any loss of wicket. Kohli scored 44 runs while Rahane 33 runs as India completed their 5th victory in 37th over of the innings. It was a simple win for the men in form. Shikhar Dhawan was named as the man of the match.
