In the 7th match of Pakistan Super League 2021, Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans were going to face each other at the National Stadium, Karachi on 26 Feb 2021. The Multan squad won the toss and went for the field first. Fakhar Zaman and Sohail Akhtar, the captain himself came on the crease to open and Sohail Khan got the new ball in hand. Lahore had been unbeaten till that match and won their last two matches of PSL 2021.

The starting of the Qalandars was not very good as they had lost 2 wickets very early at the score of 17 runs but Joe Denly and Mohammad Hafeez handled the situation and built up a partnership of 89 runs. Hafeez made crucial 60 runs for his team but unfortunately was sent back as a run out by Brathwaite and Usman Qadir at the score of 106 runs. Finally, the first batting team could make 157 runs at the end of the 20 overs. The Sultans got the target of 158 runs to register the first win in the PSL 2021. Shahnawaz Dhani and Carlos Brathwaite got 2 wickets each for Multan.

Mohammad Rizwan and Chris Lynn were on the crease to chase the target and Shaheen Shah Afridi was all set to open the attack with the new ball. The flop show of Chris Lynn was continued and he was dismissed by Shah Afridi at the score of 1 run only. James Vince then came to join Rizwan but could not stay longer was sent back by Samit Patel. The team needed a partnership and that job was completed by the opener Mohammad Rizwan and Sohaib Maqsood. Both the players covered up the damage by making a partnership of 110 runs that helped the Multan to register their first victory in the PSL 6th edition. Mohammad Rizwan played a match-winning inning of 76 runs and Sohaib Maqsood supported him very well with his unbeaten 61 runs from 41 balls.

Multan Sultans won the 7th match of PSL 2021 by 7 wickets with 22 balls remaining and the captain, Mohammad Rizwan, got the title of Man of the Match.
